Update: According to a disclosed presentation, Yahoo expects close Delicious. Which is bad news for users of popular social bookmarking tool, but fortunately, there are several excellent interesting to study alternatives. While none of them are an alternative type-for-like exact for Delicious (and none of them can match the effect of the Delicious big SkypeOut network sharing links with one another), they offer a selection of useful bookmarks functionality:
Update: Friday, the company published a post on the Delicious blog says that the service will not stop, but that is no longer "strategic fit Yahoo" for her, and that the company is "in the process of exploring various options and talk to the companies now" on the search for a House for the service elsewhere.
Licorize. Like Delicious, pages can be bookmarks to a bookmarklet, an extension to chrome or Firefox, or via the website. Licorize offers features more than Delicious, though. With each item you add (Licorize called "strips"), define you what type of bookmark, it is (idea, tasks, target, callback, regular bookmark, etc.) and possibly add tags, assign a member of the team, and associate it to a project. Depending on the type of bookmark you set as a band, you also get some other fields. For example, tasks bands have a checkbox "done", while stage bands have a due date. The free base version does not include functionality for project or the ability to add members of the team; version premium with costs of all the features of $5 per month, or $49 per year.
Pinboard.in. is a bookmarking service "back to basics". It is similar to Delicious, but has a stripped back user interface and is designed to be extremely fast to use. It is good for users who had grown frustrated with the slow pace of the Delicious (there is a comparison between the two services here). Note that the Forum is not free. There is a one-time charge to subscribe (increase by a small amount with each new registration; it is currently $7.96). Users can also pay for archives accounts that allow local archive bookmarks at a cost of $25 per year. Note: Bookmark import runs slowly at the moment, probably because many users are currently migrating the accounts of Delicious.
Diigo. Diigo goes beyond social bookmarking simple by providing a multitude of functions, including collaboration and webpage; comment tools Mike Gunderloy think it is the most comprehensive online bookmarking service. It is particularly useful for group research projects. It includes a Delicious import tool and client applications are available for iPad and Android. The service is free and is funded by advertising; education accounts are available.
Evernote. Evernote is a primarily a tool for notetaking multiplatform, but it works as well as a repository for bookmarks. Lacking the social characteristics of the Delicious, but it is a favorite of many of the WWD team. As well as the web application, the native client applications are available for Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, BlackBerry, before Palm and Windows Mobile. Evernote basic account is free. Premium accounts are available for $5 per month or $ 45 per year and provide a greater capacity of loading and improved collaboration and sharing functionality. Evernote supports users Delicious switching service here.
Google Bookmarks. If you want just somewhere to store your bookmarks in the cloud, Google Bookmarks could be just the trick. There is a bookmarklet for adding new items and suggests ways to organize your bookmarks via the lists and labels, and you can also share and collaborate on your lists with others. Google Bookmarks is free, but you'll need a Google account to use.
What other solution Delicious encourage you?
