ITASCA, Illinois, December 17, 2010/PRNewswire-USNewswire /-the National Safety Council is proud to announce that James Johnson, Vice President of Group of security in the workplace, initiatives has been appointed by the Minister of labour Hilda l. Solis, for a term of two years on the national Advisory Committee on safety at work & health. Johnson is one of the five new members of the Advisory Committee of 12 people, chosen for their experience and knowledge in health and safety at work.
NACOSH, created under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, provides recommendations and advise Secretary of labour, health and social services on policies and programs of health and safety at work. Secretaries may consult NACOSH on priorities such as leadership, enforcement, compliance, search and expanded partnerships. Secretaries may also join the NACOSH for insight on issues of safety and health that OSHA and HHS could choose to pursue.
"The new NACOSH members have a wealth of knowledge and experience of the real world on a wide range of issues of health and safety worker,", said the Minister of labour Hilda L.. Solis. Johnson will be one of the two members representing management. "I am honoured to be selected and the opportunity to contribute with the other members of the Committee," said Johnson.
Prior to joining the Board in August 2009, Johnson had more than 30 years of experience as a safety and health, consultant, project manager and Team Manager, leading the development and delivery of solutions for progressive security for businesses of all sizes and in all sectors. Johnson managed operations and companies, including Liberty Mutual Group, Johnson & Higgins and Marsh risk control of multiple disciplines.
Johnson holds a Bachelor of science from Stanford University. Former member of the Board of Directors of CSS, it is also a professional member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and former President of its Boston chapter.
